Everybody around the globe has a different point of views towards various “numbers”. For instance, Chinese like number “3” since this is a good number representing “birth” and “prosperity” while they don’t like number “4” just because it has a similar pronunciation as “death” in Chinese. Meanwhile, westerners don’t like numbers such as “13” and “666” as they believe these numbers will bring them bad luck.
Whatsoever, from the perspective of traditional Chinese geomancy, all the above are not true. Indeed, each number belongs to a specific category in the five main elements on earth, namely “wood”, “fire”, “earth”, “metal” and “water”, and different combinations of these “five elements” of numbers result in various chemical reactions which cause various good or bad effects.
First, we need to introduce the relationship of each number and “five elements”.
“1” belongs to “water”
“2” belongs to “earth”
“3” belongs to “wood”
“4” belongs to “wood”
“5” belongs to “earth”
“6” belongs to “metal”
“7” belongs to “metal”
“8” belongs to “earth”
“9” belongs to “fire”
“0” belongs to “earth”
In five elements,
“Wood” creates “Fire”,

“Water” beats “Fire”,
“Fire” beats “Metal”,
“Metal” beats “Wood”
